Bible Verse: She
[Hagar] gave this name to the LORD who spoke to her: “You are the God who
sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me.” That is why
the well was called Beer Lahai Roi [the “well of the Living One who sees
me”]. — Genesis 16:13–14
(NIV)
“When nothing else could
help your love came down and lifted me.”
Have you ever been in a place in life where you feel the
deep, deep realization that where you are today is the sum of all your own
choices? You see we always have a choice
to believe God or the devil, and maybe some of our choices have put us in a
place where we feel the need to hide, like Adam and Eve in the garden. Maybe you feel like your world has been
shaken, your heart broken, like all hope was fading and that the walls were
closing in?
I wonder if that was how Hagar felt while waiting for God
to help her, to see her? You see, Hagar
has become pregnant with her master’s child – and is then mistreated by his
wife. Hagar decides to run away and sits by a stream where God speaks to
her. Hagar learned that El Roi was there
all along – He did see her – He knew her and He had a plan, a plan to bless
her!
The other day as I was driving home from a particular
hard day at work, I was struggling with the realization that I was truly the
sum of all my choices. Good and bad, but
that day I was struggling with the effects of some of the bad choices. I had been shaken, my heart was breaking and
hope was fading and I felt the walls closing in then, God’s love came down and
lifted me up! I saw that what seemed
like an end was a new beginning. God not
only saw me, he KNEW me, and He had
a plan to bless me. You see, without the
pain of my struggles I would never have turned to writing as a form of
healing. I am now writing these
devotions to heal, each one starts with a bible verse, so I am aligning my
situation with Gods word, then as I write from my heart, God and I work out the
ending in the devotional and finally seal it with a prayer…. His grace and
mercy are my testimony! Look how he
lifted me.
My friends, ask El Roi, the God who sees
you, to open your eyes to His work and to increase your faith even when
His promises seem impossible to fulfill.
Heavenly Father, Praise Your name that you are the God
who sees us and knows us, has known us even before we were in our mother’s
womb! We pray for the faith to believe
in your promises and plans for us even when they seem impossible. We thank you that your Love has lifted us up!
Amen
